Gladman Developments has secured planning permission for up to 118 dwellings and 60 units of specialist elderly care accommodation on land east of Overstrand Road, Cromer, within the Norfolk Coast National Landscape designation.
The outline application was approved by North Norfolk District Council’s planning committee following a positive officer recommendation. The site was proposed as a housing allocation in the Regulation 19 version of the council’s emerging Local Plan, and Gladman’s planning strategy involved promoting the site through the plan preparation process alongside submitting an outline application.
In recognition of the site’s location within the National Landscape, a landscape-led scheme was designed that incorporates over three hectares of open space and green infrastructure. The generous landscaping framework ensures the development sits sensitively within its surroundings while delivering substantial housing and care accommodation to meet local need.
The scheme was sold to BDW Trading (Barratt David Wilson Homes), and reserved matters design work is now under way.
