Gladman has completed the sale of one of its largest sites in the North East, with the Staindrop Road development in Darlington delivering up to 985 new homes. The site was purchased by Bellway Homes in December 2023.
The significant scale of the development reflects both the housing need in the Darlington area and the site’s capacity to deliver a comprehensive, well-designed new neighbourhood. The scheme includes a mix of house types and tenures, with a substantial affordable housing provision and supporting infrastructure.
Gladman’s North East regional team identified the site and secured planning permission through a combination of proactive engagement with Darlington Borough Council and detailed technical assessments covering highways, drainage, ecology, and landscape. The scale of the infrastructure provision — including contributions to local schools, healthcare, and transport — represents a major investment in the local community.
The Darlington site brings Gladman’s total homes secured in the North East to nearly 1,800, with a further 985 currently in the planning pipeline across the region.
