Success in Wooton, Bedford – Appeal Allowed

Our appeal for up to 90 homes in Wootton, Bedford, including 30% affordable housing, has been allowed.

The Inspector accepted our case on housing land supply, with evidence presented by Ben Pycroft, and agreed that the most up-to-date local housing need figures should be used when assessing supply, consistent with the approach set out in the Planning Practice Guidance.

The decision also provides a detailed consideration of Paragraph 14 of the National Planning Policy Framework. The Inspector concluded that Paragraph 14 was engaged in this case and, when undertaking the planning balance, gave significant weight to the lack of housing supply and the unusual circumstances surrounding the Local Plan. In those circumstances, conflict with the neighbourhood plan was not considered decisive.

This marked Gladman’s second appeal success in July 2026 and was a fantastic way to begin our new financial year. For more details on the appeal decision, please click below.
