Gladman Developments has secured outline planning permission for up to 480 new homes on the south-western edge of Harrogate, forming the central part of the West Harrogate Urban Extension in the adopted Local Plan.
The 28.57-hectare site was granted permission on 8th October 2024 following a proactive and collaborative approach with the local planning authority, landowners, and a consortium of developers. The scheme balances high-quality new homes with generous green infrastructure and essential community amenities.
North Yorkshire Council (formerly Harrogate Borough Council) allocated the land as a strategic urban extension in its Local Plan, recognising the need for significant new housing delivery on the western edge of the market town. Gladman’s role in coordinating a comprehensive approach to the allocation was central to securing a positive outcome.
The site is currently being marketed to national housebuilders and is expected to deliver homes across a range of sizes and tenures, including a substantial affordable housing provision.
