From fundraising initiatives, through the Barratt Foundation, to volunteering opportunities to support our local communities, colleagues across the business have generously dedicated their time, efforts and enthusiasm to make a difference.
This article steps away from the normal day-to-day working, and highlights some of our key achievements, celebrating the collective effort that continues to strengthen our commitment to social responsibility and community support.
Volunteering
Throughout the last financial year, Gladman employees contributed more than 100 volunteering days, exceeding the organisation’s annual target and creating a positive impact beyond the workplace. Highlights from our 100-day target include:
The Great Tommy Sleepout & Bakesale
Back in March, 12 members of the Gladman team took part in the Great Tommy Sleepout in Coniston, Cumbria. To boost fundraising efforts and add an extra challenge, the team also climbed the Old Man of Coniston, a Lake District peak standing at 803m. At the summit, temperatures dropped to -1ºC with a wind chill of -7ºC. But in true northerner style it was still “shorts weather” for some!
Heavy rain set in overnight, and a few tents struggled to keep the water out, giving the group an insight into the harsh realities faced by homeless veterans and exactly why this charity is important. Despite the tough conditions, team spirit remained high, and the experience was a rewarding one. Between the Sleepout and a team bake sale, the group raised over £2,000.
Ruby’s Fund
Ruby’s Fund is a charity organisation specialising in providing life support and opportunities for SEND children and their families, who live in Cheshire East. Working with Ruby’s gave Gladman a chance to help the local community and make a charitable impact closer to home. Over the year, the team at Gladman have helped Ruby’s Fund by spending time clearing the outdoor site, distributing leaflets and making seasonal donations to support families during difficult times of the year.

The Barratt Foundation
The new Barratt Foundation brings a long-term strategy to support charities, national and local, large and small, across the UK leaving a powerful legacy within local communities. Gladman’s role within the Foundation was to select charities to receive a donation throughout FY26. It was no surprise, that our caring team quickly acted to this initiative, and created a list of deserving charities to receive the funds. Here are just some of the charities that have received the Barratt Foundation donation, and the reasons from our colleagues:
The Christy Charity
“The purpose of The Christie Charity is to support the development of cancer prevention, treatment, research and education at The Christie NHS FT by improving the patient and carer experience Facilitating high-quality research programmes Encouraging and supporting innovation in the development of services Promoting and supporting the training and personal development of staff
My father-in-law has incurable cancer and is currently being treated by The Christie. The care, treatment and support they provide is life-changing and any donation would support their vital cause.”
Lifeshare
“Lifeshare is a voluntary organisation dedicated to supporting homeless and vulnerable people in Greater Manchester. They act as a first point of contact for those on the streets and provide practical assistance, support, and information, helping individuals access initiatives that move their lives forward.
I volunteer for Lifeshare and am a resident of Manchester – the work that Lifeshare do for vulnerable people in Manchester is very important and donations are key to their ongoing impact.”
Bare Necessities Toiletry Bank
“This charity was set up and is run by a family friend. They are based in Wilmslow and do a lot of important work locally, regularly distributing much needed women’s hygiene products to those who are unable to afford them.”
