UK Salaries Up In February

Mar 8, 2018

There was good news for many people in the UK last month, with the latest research from CV Library showing that average salaries around the country were up in February, compared to the same time a year earlier.

Onrec reported on the website’s data, which found that average advertised salaries for jobs climbed by 1.3 per cent year-on-year.

A month-on-month increase of 0.5 per cent between January and February this year was also recorded, so even though the difference may not feel like a lot it still shows that pay is moving in the right direction.

Naturally, some sectors saw average pay improve more than others, with hospitality leading the way with a 6.5 per cent jump compared to a January. Marketing roles saw their salary increase by 4.6 per cent in the same period, while for those working in engineering growth was 3.6 per cent.

Founder and managing director of CV Library Lee Biggins commented: “It’s clear that businesses are trying to keep the momentum going following the typical January hiring rush and that they’re working hard to keep attracting talented candidates to their vacancies.”

If your business is doing well enough that you need to hire more staff, you could also be looking for new offices to let in Scarborough to help with your expansion.

Offering a competitive salary for any job vacancy is crucial if you want to attract the best talent. Research among professionals carried out by CV Library last month found that achieving a good salary is the top career priority for 58.1 per cent of people.

Having friendly colleagues, working somewhere with a great company culture, having room for progression and being given the opportunity to learn new skills were the other things that featured in the top five priorities for workers.
