Are You Ready For Black Friday?

Nov 21, 2017

With just four short days until the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend kicks off, now’s the time to review your website, do a stock take and prep your members of staff for what could be a very busy few days.

New research from TSB has found that 60 per cent of Brits are planning on shopping this Black Friday weekend, with shoppers intending on spending £300 each on average over the course of a couple of days.

The most popular items that people are looking out for this year include electronics, clothes, movies, TVs and games, beauty products and toys.

Director of personal current accounts at TSB Craig Blundell said: “Christmas can be an expensive time of year so it’s encouraging to see that people can save money by making the most of the Black Friday deals on offer. However, with lots of deals out there it could be easy for people to push themselves over budget if they don’t plan ahead.”

To ready yourself for an influx of customers, online and at your bricks and mortar store, make sure that there are no bugs on your site that could hinder the payment process and that the deals you have are in a prominent place online so people can find them easily.

Have some contingency plans in place in case something happens, like your website going down. Check your server load capacity as well, because too many requests made at the same time can crash your site.

Make sure you have enough members of staff actually on site as well to handle customers coming in and consider having more point of sale locations in store so you can carry out more transactions than you might have to do normally.
